The Underworld

THE UNDERWORLD

The Underworld, led by the powerful god Ditis Patris, is not the fictional realm known to Greek mythology. Meant to represent the continued life of one's spirit after death Ditis has painstakingly converted his world into a modern, ever-changing, expansive metropolis akin to those of the living realm. At the center of the Underworld lies the Heart, surrounded by the three districts: Elysian, Asphodel, and Punish. And encompassing the outskirts of the city is the endless Tartarus Swamp.

THE HEART

Located at the very center of the Underworld is "The Heart", or sometimes referred to as the Underling District. It is in the center of this district that The Tower looms. All newly shipped souls will find themselves first brought to the Tower for processing, judged and sorted into one of the other three districts. The Tower is also known to be the home of the god Ditis Patris and his wife, Aristi. The rest of The Heart is dedicated to residences and personal services for the Underlings.

ELYSIAN DISTRICT

Beautiful and pristine Elysian is considered the most upper-class or finest of the three human districts. All souls that were exceptionally good in life have the luxury of living in Elysian. It is also in this district that citizens can find the finest restaurants, shops, and sources of entertainment of the entire Underworld. Even Ditis himself has been known to visit some of the establishments in Elysian.

ASPHODEL DISTRICT

Fair and clean Asphodel is considered the middle-class or average district of the three. All souls that were neither particularly good nor bad in life take up residence in Asphodel. It is also the district that houses the largest number of shops and various establishments for the Underworld. All of them are fair but no where near as high class as the ones you might find in Elysian. Asphodel is the largest of the districts and thus the most populated and frequented. Even Elysian and Punish inhabitants will find much of their time spent in Asphodel.

PUNISH DISTRICT

Shady and dangerous Punish is the lower-class or sleazy district of the three. All souls that were particularly wicked or cruel live in Punish. Despite it's name the district is not a place of torture. More of a seedy underbelly it is here that you can find the shady or unsavory establishments of the Underworld. There are rumors of a black market as well, hidden somewhere in this district, but no one will say for sure.

TARTARUS SWAMP

Surrounding the outskirts of Underworld is this dark and endless swamp. Tartarus is called 'haunted' due to the fact that all lost souls are relocated here, aimlessly wandering the swamp as wisps or specters. It is highly advised that citizens do not enter or go near the swamp for the fact there is no guarantee you will be able to find your way back out. And you never know what might be lurking deep within those shadows...
