The creations of Ditis Patris, Underlings are the natives to the Underworld. Originally made to be the servants of Ditis they have now become just general citizens of the realm. Many of them have ordinary jobs and are nothing different than the humans, aside from varied appearances. There is a small segment however that serve more important duties for the god and possess powers to do so. This group is very small however and are not as often seen outside of The Heart's Tower.
All Underlings are created, not born. They are hand created by Ditis himself in "batches". There are typically six to twelve Underlings per a batch. Underlings born together in a batch are not considered related-no Underlings are of blood relation-but are still viewed as a group. An Underling is then given a name and then a batch ID as their surname.
For example: 02 - 2A
Orange represents what series they are from.
Purple is the batch number they were in.
White is which number in the batch they were.
So an actual example of an Underling's name would be: D'Shaun 02-2A
There are two "series" of Underlings created. Series A are the Underlings made with powers to serve Ditis directly. There are very few in this series. Series B is the more common Underlings that are powerless and serve as regular citizens, most Underlings come from this series and the batches are thus larger than Series A ones.
Underlings come in all sorts of appearances. Unlike humans that look, well, like humans, Underlings are created in a wide variety of forms. These forms can be human, animal, or whatever really. They cannot shapeshift. So if an Underling is given an inhuman form they cannot shift into a more human form. Other than their appearances, Series B Underlings are nothing special compared to the humans. The only perk that they truly get is that they live in The Heart rather than one of the districts.
Just like humans Underlings cannot age and cannot reproduce. They are created as adults, not children or infants. If they die then their souls are returned to Ditis rather than lost to Tartarus. Ditis cannot recreate the same Underling twice, even with the same soul.

THE HUMANS
Humans are the physical souls of mortals that have passed away in the living realm. In the Underworld their bodies are reconstructed and mended from any wounds or handicaps they had in life. Human citizens can exist from any point in the history of man. There might be a citizen that has been in the Underworld since Ancient Greece, and then there might be one that passed away last week. All souls collectively mingle here and are up to date with the modernizing of the Underworld. Even if a human is from ancient eras, they have naturally progressed as the Underworld has and adapted to the changing times.
All humans have memories of their past lives and upon arrival to the Underworld are judged for these lives by the Sorters. Upon sorting the human is then given a home with basic essentials (typically starting off with an apartment unless in the Elysian District where they get a small house) and it is up to the human from that point on to either find a job, find passed family members to live with, or do whatever they can as means of living in the Underworld.
Humans in the Underworld cannot age and cannot reproduce. Though your body is reconstructed in the likeness of the human's mortal body, the soul has the choice of choosing at what age in their past life their body will represent. A body cannot appear older than what the human was in life. For this fact children who come to the Underworld cannot request adult bodies.
Much like in life humans have the need to eat, drink, sleep, and other necessary functions of the body. Though it is much more difficult for a human to die in the Underworld, it is still possible. A soul that takes great damage of any sort has a risk of becoming unstable. When a soul becomes unstable it is unable to with hold a solid form any longer. In essence, the soul "dies" and becomes "lost". These souls are much like wisps or faint specters and are always relocated to the Tartarus to spend the rest of eternity.
