✗ He had followed the orb for what felt like hours, the small object always bobbing and weaving just out of his grasp. The further he followed it the more sounds he found himself hearing. They were new sounds, not the sounds of the swamp. Industrial sounds, voices, it was a chaotic mixture of everything. He felt fear grip him more tightly as the new noises came closer and closer. But he could not let up on his chase. He didn’t want to be alone. The orb had led him to the edge of the swamp where the tiny child’s steps were halted. Just past the low, hazy fog he could see a large city reaching up into the evening sky. Stars and the moon reflected on his eyes as well as the many lights of the city, causing him to winch away and back a little into the safe darkness of the swamp. What was this place before him? He turned his gaze toward the orb as if it could answer him but it was already gone, leaving him standing there alone. He gave a sob of fear and hugged the closest tree, eyes wildly looking around him before settled once more on the metal monstrosity across the bog. He could hear voices rising from it, much akin to the whispering from before. The words were much more recognizable now, though garbled with the sheer amount of voices in the air. Were there more people like him in that place of lights? He felt his throat catching. ”M-mama…”✗ ✗ ✗ ✗ ✗ ✗ This was not the swamp. Everywhere he looked there were lights shining and people walking, metal objects moving along the streets at fast paces. He was scared, scared beyond belief. For an instant he wanted to run back to the safety of the swamp, to curl up and hide in its darkness. But the loneliness, he knew, was something he could not stand. He needed his mother. She- she had to be here somewhere. There were so many people of different shapes and sizes. Surely, among them, was someone he could call his mother. He had ran and slipped across the hard concrete for a short while now, diving deeper and deeper into this place of people. Panic and fear mounted in his chest with every step, tears stinging his eyes. Everywhere he looked he only saw unfamiliar faces, no one who looked like him. Would he be able to recognize his mother if he saw her? Would she recognize him? A little voice in his head reminded him you might not have a mother and only worsened his state. With a sob he finally fell to his knees in a plaza where people hustled around on their evening errands or dates. His nude form was shaking in the soft fall breeze; the mud and muck still heavily caked onto his delicate skin. He pressed his face into his knees and cried. “Mama-… M-mama.”Around him people slowly began to stop, staring at the boy with a pity and an uncertainty. He was a strange and uncomfortable sight to look at; a child naked and covered in mud, sobbing for his mother. Was he a newly deceased child looking for his mother? No… children this young never had physical bodies in the Afterlife. And he looked like an Underling, given the unusual cat-like appendages on his head and at his tailbone. But no Underling was made this small, this young. And certainly had no mother. There was something amiss here, something very different about this child. The eerie silence of the crowd that began to surround him spoke well of this.

[/div] It was strange, how everyone continued on with their everyday lives even though they were dead. Willow always forgot and she could assume that everyone else did too. Her life was boring, she has come to accept that fact too but boring isn't bad. Boring is calm, there is nothing scary about boring. Is it not easy to not fear things if they never change? Willow thought so then again what does she know about fear, what does she know about life? Hers was blessed, easy, a life of privilege.
That's what brought her to today.
She walked.
No destination, no set route or course in mind. Just one foot in front hopefully taking her somewhere nice, somewhere new.
That's when she came to a stop with crowd obscuring her vision. Her shot stature kept her from seeing what was so important but she tried to push her way forward and was taken aback at what she saw.
A young boy, a baby in comparison to her. Not a piece of clothing on him and completely saturated in mud. No one spoke, no one moved and Willow herself was tempted to do the same. This creature, this boy needed help, needed someone. She might not be his mother, but for now she was going to act like she was.
Willow tripped her way forwards and fell to her hands and knees. She could feel eyes on her and she felt herself begin to freeze. What was she thinking? She supposed that was the problem she wasn't thinking.
A burst of courage ran through her and she quickly crawled her way over to the boy. She reached for her bag and pulled out a handkerchief, it was a habit from her past life she could never shake off. Willow reached forward and brushed the cloth against he cheek hoping that would get some dirt off. The red head took her hand back again realizing that even if she got the mud off he'd still be naked.
Willow looked around at the crowd around them and squeezed her eyes shut. She took off her sweater leaving her only in a black tank top and held it out to the boy. "Sweetheart, you should put this on. I don't want to getting cold." she mummered making sure it was only audible to the boy. What was she thinking? tags: wisp-kin, and whoever else joins. words: 395 so just under. notes: i didn't know how much interaction she could have with wisp-kin so i tried to keep it minimal. most of this is rambling anyway [/td][/tr][/table] [/center] [newclass=.plip1]background-color: #000; height: 5px; width: 350px; color: dedede; overflow: hidden; transition: 0.8s;-moz-transition: 0.8s; -webkit-transition: 0.8s; -o-transition: 0.8s;[/newclass][newclass=.plip1:hover]height: 100px; transition: 0.8s;-moz-transition: 0.8s; -webkit-transition: 0.8s; -o-transition: 0.8s;[/newclass]

He really didnt have much else to do today besides roam around. Everyone seemed to be busy today. If it wasn't a date, it was work and if it wasn't work it was something else. Not that that was a problem or anything... Seiji just wished he had something to do today. It was his day off and he was hoping he'd see someone he knew out here. Not that he knew much of anyone down here...
The tanned male sighed, his hands slipping into the pockets of his jacket. He followed the crowd aimlessly. People were carrying onto all kinds of locations this time of day. It was interesting seeing where everyone went. Who they went with.
He stopped in the plaza, staring up at the sky as he debated if he should have just gone back home. Seiji happened to look down and noted a crowed in the distant. What were they looking at? Whatever it was, it must have been hella interesting. Seiji made his way over, peeking over some shoulders to see a small mud caked form and a red headed girl. A kid? What was up with this scene?
The kid sort of reminded him of his cousins... He couldn't just leave him there. And the girl there seemed a little nervous surrounded by all these prying eyes. Seiji pushed through the ground, the tall male kneeling down with the other two.
"I think it's best if we move him somewhere else."
He didn't really care if he was butting in. This kid was the only thing on his mind right now. And all these people just stopping and staring at him weren't helping at all. And frankly it was irritating him.

No one thought his attire was odd here in the afterlife. Fenrir, when he had first traveled here, thought his strange warrior's garb would confuse and upset others who lived around him. Seeing a warrior dressed in green would surely cause them to run and hide form him in fear.
But people here were dressed much differently than he'd first thought. When he died, he had been placed here in the clothes he had died in, and apparently that went for everyone else as well. True, there were different shops to go to buy new clothes, but Fen decided to keep his clothes the same. He wanted to remember his previous life as much as he could.
On this day he decided to head over to the plaza for a meal. As he was doing so, however, things began to get quiet. Not the one to br left out of the loop, Fenrir headed over to the thing that seemed to be hogging the attention; a naked child covered in mud. A redhead and another male seemed to be comforting it, and Fenrir decided he might take a look at the thing. It definitely wasn't human, but it wasn't an Underling either.
"If it won't fit in anything else, I'm sure it can fit in my hat..." he said in a low tone, kneeling down beside the small group around the child. At this he took off his large green hat, showing it to whoever cared to look. "To keep him safe and warm for the time being?"

He had god damn hicky on his neck and he was never going to hear the end of it. The most prominent thought in his head. People were lame little losers that stared. Yeah. He had gotten laid. The fuck was you problem? That was no bug bite. Was it so hard to believe that he could get some? Probably. Little sassed mouth brat that he could be.
He was running between jobs. Literally running. He kept everything he used in large roller cases. He hated cars. Hated them. He hated trains, planes, anything metal that moved. It didn't make him out to be the fastest handy man the cities had but he was the hardest working and he could solve any problem. Fix anything. Hell he could make it better and that is what kept him in more high demand. Why people put up with his fear.
He had just crossed a street when he ran into a crowd of people forming a snarl building up in his throat. "something better be dead or dying. Costing me fuc-" And the words froze on his tongue as he managed to shove his way through enough to see a small child. A child? When did that ever happen? A legit frightened child...covered in...mud? He had in all his time not seen a child that young looking and then....then the ears and tail.....Underling? But nonono. He knew the underlings. He knew them all by face and this was definitely not....so what was it? The moment though people started approaching it his hackles raised. "Hey hey! Back the fuck off that thing. You don't know where the fuck it came from! that doesn't look normal." Coming from someone with horns. Oh yeah.

✗ He could feel all of their eyes on him, staring. He felt like every inch of his person was exposed to them, his very thoughts. This was not at all like the swamp. Though dark and lonely he could at least hide. He could at least escape these stares. But now here he sat in a world of cement and metal, too frightened to move and with nowhere to hide. He gave a whimper as he shook, black nails digging into his skin more and more. All he wanted was his mother. All he wanted was to be wrapped up in her arms and protected. ”Mama,” he sobbed out again softly.
His ears twitched as he heard one of them step closer- one of these strangers. Peering out from his knees he saw her crawling closer and his heart’s rate escalated. W-what was she doing? Why was she approaching him? She looked nothing like him. S-she couldn’t be his Mama. It was impossible. He stiffened as she pulled something from a bag and brushed it against his cheek. On instinct he pulled away from her, curling tighter to himself and tucking his tail around his form. By now the claw-like nails on his fingers had torn through the flesh on his shins and a black sludge-like substance was oozing out. It almost looked to be like the mud, merely blacker.
But now she was trying to offer him a piece of clothing, talking to him in a voice so faint he could barely make out the words. He had no time to truly react before another person approached, kneeling down by them and speaking. And then another knelt down as well, speaking and holding out a hat. All of them looked nothing like him. A-and they were so close. Too close. People in the crowd were talking, shouting. He couldn’t handle it, couldn’t take it. It was all too much at once for the child.
On instinct he uncurled, nails scraping against the cement and the hair on his tail standing up. He laid his ears flat against his skull and the long, black slits of his eyes widened in a stare that would have been monstrous if not for the tears still tumbling from them. He bore tiny fanged teeth and hissed a low hiss at the three before him, trying to be intimidating. ”L-leave me alone! G-go away,” his voice was weak and shaking from his terror but he did his best to hiss these words. The tears fell more rapidly down his face now and he started to curl to himself again. ”I just- I just want Mama! “
Guards were beginning to appear at the edge of the crowd, pushing their way through to inspect this unusual scene.

[/div] A voice cried out for the crowd and the voice did have a point but a child was a child even if it was a strange one. How dangerous could the litter creature be? Just Willow glanced at the boy and saw the look of pure fright in his eyes. Her eyes creased in concern and she jumped slightly when she heard a voice form beside her. She didn't take her eyes off the young child's small form but she listened to the suggestion.
It was a good idea since if she was unhinged by the crowd the child must be terrified. "I would agree but I don't think he'd let us touch him." Willow couldn't believe that she was talking to complete strangers but it was a strange situation. Just like that another person joined their ever increasing group. He offered another piece of advice but it was hit by the same dilemma, the boy didn't seem to be very trusting. "Do you think you could even get it on him?" she said to the guy in green.
Willow took her eyes off of him for a second. What a mistake. She didn't see him move before it was too late. Willow fell back with surprise and let out a yelp when she hit the ground. Her eyes widened with alarm as the boy more into an animal. No! She could not freak out now, he's just scared. That's it, he's just reacting out of fright. With that explanation in mind Willow tried again. Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, don't be afraid.
Willow brought up her friends hoping it would convey she meant no harm. "I want to help you find your mother," she could hear protesting behind her and looked back to see guards making their way forward. "But if the big men catch you won't see her, is that what you want?" She was surprised at how steady she could hold her voice. Willow inched her hand closer to him hoping it wouldn't hurt her. "I just need you to take my hand and we'll go look for you Mommy." tags: wisp-kin, felix, seiji, fenrir. words: three hundred something. notes: i just realized how bad i am at doing group threads. It seemed like more and more people were showing up to view the odd scene. A small child covered in a thick coat of mud, completely lacking clothing was indeed a strange scene. But Seiji couldn't allow this kid to just be watched like some exhibit in a zoo. These people crowding around him... Taking pictures on their phones and making idle conversation while he curled up into a ball in the middle of it all. It was sad how people were even in the afterlife. Seiji had babysat his cousins enough to have developed a soft side for kids. Though with children other than his cousins, he would have appeared to be a treeman-monster if anything.
Seiji's habit of scowling at nothing in particular wasn't the best when handling children outside his family. Though those children were the only ones he tolerated anyway. However, this small child reminded him of one of them. He just... had to help him.
Another man appeared from the crowd, adorned with all green and offering his hat to the boy. But it seemed he was more afraid of them than accepting of any help. Seiji glanced up at the horned man approaching, going on about how they didn't know where the kid had been, about how it didn't look normal. Seiji's brow twitched and his lips curled into a frown.
"Coming from the prick with candy yams on his head." he said, his cobalt gaze narrowing before he returned his attention to the boy. He agreed with the young redheaded girl,
"We can't find your mom if those jerks in uniform take you away. They'll take you somewhere she can't get to you."

If Felix had anything left of a heart it might have been with the thing kept calling for his mama. The left corner of his lips twitched. Oh yeah. Fucking bitch was still there. What. The. Fuck. But nono. He ignored it. Because those things did you nothing but get you in trouble and getting soft to a creature that could very well be something out of a monster movie and playing them all to get them close before the attack? Nope. He totally wasn't going to be the idiot fawning over it so it made for the easier target once it decided to show it's colors and go ape shit.
As the thing clawed at his own flesh, causing something dark to bubble forth Felix swore letting one of his roller bags to to point. "Come on man. Not. Fucking. Normal. Who the fuck bleeds like that?" Call someone. He needed to call someone high up call them now and let them be informed of this shit, before he could though some mother fucker called his horns candy yam. The Underling scowled, fingers twitched to chuck something at his stupid blue head. "I hope it cuts out your damn throat." Was all he snapped back before the thing hissed despite the tears flowing down from his eyes.
His heart jerked. Not. Going. To. Happen. As guards started to make their presents known he sighed a thing of relief before the stupid woman and the even more stupid man started to get the thing to go with them so they could help it find it's mama. "Just let the thing go man. Maybe they have it's mother you ever think of that? Or that maybe it is good to just it to them for the simple fact that we have never seen something like that before? Huh? You are seriously going to let something unknown wander about?"

The underworld now and the underworld when he was first created were very different places, but he rather liked the illusion Ditis put in place for the dead. Pastel skies of blue stretched out in place of the murky darkness he was once familiar with. There were not plants and trees, even a breeze that was sometimes warm and other times chilled. He loved to pick fresh flowers, fabricated or not, for his precious Anette. Without Ditis’ changes, it wouldn’t be possible.
As the prototype underling strolled along, admiring the world Ditis created for the human for the millionth time, he paused. There was a commotion, a crowd of people gathered around something he couldn’t catch a glimpse of past the bodies. Something was amiss and he knew it before he made his way over and pushed through the crowd. He caught sight of a few daring individuals crowded closer to… What was that thing? Ditis nor himself had ever made a underling like that. Something was definitely not right.
He was drawing closer through the sea of bodies when he saw the creature’s demeanor shift to something alarming. It was no longer safe for these people to be so near that thing, whatever it was. “Get away from that thing.” He called out through sewn lips, somehow managing to speak loud and clear with a note of authority. “I have never seen that creature before.” Callum hissed, stepped into the small opening between the fearful crowd and the daring people.

✗ They were still talking to him. Still around him. Why wouldn't they go away? Why wouldn't they all go away!? There were flashing lights now, the voices were getting louder, and the crowd bigger and bigger. Clutching his legs he looked around with wide eyes in terror. His chest rose and fell rapidly in panicked breaths, to a point he was starting to feel light headed. it was a mistake coming here, it was a mistake leaving the swamp. His mama wasn't here. And the orbs, they weren't here either to comfort him. It was just him and- and this sea of strangers.
He took a moment to realize that the woman was talking to him again. With a whimper he looked over at her. She wanted to help him find his mother? He looked over at one of the men. He did too? He gave a sound of uncertainty and held himself tighter. He didn't like the sounds of these big men coming to catch him. Why did they want to do that? He just- he just wanted to find Mama! He gave a choking sob, crying into his knees. He could hear the shouts and loud remarks of other people in the crowd. Telling these others to get away from him. He wasn't-… he wasn't trying to hurt anyone. He just wanted his mother, he just didn't want to be alone anymore.
He looked up at the two people who had spoken to him, large eyes watering. He looked at the hand that was offered to him. "I just…" His words were cut off by a sob and he reached out to take the hand offered to him. His own was so tiny in comparison, so cold to the touch. Though the skin was soft his nails were sharp, threatening to prick her as he squeezed the hand weakly. He didn't want to trust these people and he didn't want to be around them but they said they'd help him find his mother. And he feared these coming big men and the ones shouting more than he did her and the other two.
"I don't wanna be taken away!" He was pleading, hand trembling in the woman's grasp. He didn't believe that his mother was where those big men would take him. That voice was still reminding him he might not even have a mother at all, that this was all for not. But he couldn't be alone any longer and he couldn't go with those men. He had to put his trust in these strangers knelt before him. With a frightened cry he flung himself toward them for protection and comfort.
The guards were shouting now, starting to shove spectators aside to form a ring around the four of them. Some had their weapons drawn while others had their hands rested on them ready to react. A small cluster of the uniformed men swarmed to Callum's sides ready to follow the Underling's every command.

[/div] That made her hesitate, what if he was right? What if by trying to help the boy they were actually keeping him from finding his mother? Her face scrunched together as she thought hard about the possibilities, not that she had time to. Willow already knew her decision, she whipped around finally facing the negative observers. "He isn't a thing!" she yelled staining herself to be loud. "Stop calling him a creature, or a thing. He's a boy, a frightened young boy and maybe if you stopped yelling at him he wouldn't be so scared."
Happy she had made her point Willow turned away and focused her attention back to the cat-child. A smile seeped its way onto her face as she felt the small hand in hers. She shook slightly from the icy touch but didn't back away. She knew he'd get cold but that's a problem for another time, right now they had to get out of here. Her eyes widened in surprise at his sudden outburst but her gaze softened as she cradled his small body against hers. He seemed so delicate, so fragile.
Her clothes would never be the same color again but she was okay with it as long as it went to a good cause. Willow pressed her lips to the top of his head and smiled in his muddy hair. "Don't you worry. We'll protect, we won't let them take you away." Willow stood up making sure to hold the boy securely in her grasp and looked down at the boys that had been with her all this time. "We have to get him out of here. Where should we go?" This was really sad, he thought. People were selfish even down here. Of course, he was no one to talk. But he still felt something here. He felt that he shouldn't have left things like this. What were they gonna do to this kid? Where the hell were they planning to take him? Just the simple fact that he was different, and all these guards crawling out from their holes made him worry for the kid. Why would they all come out now? This many guards didn't even appear for a simply robbery or a purse snatch. So why now? For a little brat covered in mud?
Seiji stood up, his towering figure rising above most of the heads in the crowd and drawing a few gazes. He narrowed his eyes once more. These guys were really starting to annoy him, foreal. He shouldn't have picked fights like this. And he really needed to learn how to keep his damn mouth closed. But Seiji being Seiji, he couldn't let that happen. Not right now. He felt uneasy. Threatened with all these goons coming out from the cracks of the ever changing city.
"If this kid looked like one of us, would you say something different or would you still call him a thing?" he questioned, his eyes focused on Felix, Callum and the guards. The boy was opening up to them gradually. That was good. But they were surrounded by people and guards. Seiji was tall and strong for his age, but he wasn't sure he could barrel through these jerks by himself. Seiji stood close to the boy and the redheaded girl, having no intentions of leaving without them. He silently commended the young girl for speaking up.
"We need to get through this crowd before we can go anywhere..." Seiji said, his tone gruff and laced with a tad of anxiety. He wasn't sure they even could get through...

Fenrir had stayed silent throughout the scene. He'd even stepped back to take in everything that was happening in such a short time. The little thing was apparently not human or an underling; maybe it needed to be taken to the higher authorities to be identified? But if the guards took it, and scared it further, it could easily cause a panic and escape.
Guards were appearing out of thin air, and the little boy was finally beginning to trust the woman with the bright red hair. The other male noted that it was going to be hard to get past the guards, and Fenrir did something so incredibly stupid that he wondered why he was even protecting some thing that didn't know him from Jack.
"The guards are only appearing at the front of the crowd." He began, pulling his sword from its sheath while grabbing onto his shield. "I'll make a scene and you guys run if you can. I really don't know what this thing is but...it doesn't deserve to be taken by people who don't care about it." He mused, brandishing his sword at the guards, as if asking them to attack him.

Post by ARISTI PATRIS on Feb 6, 2013 23:14:26 GMT -6
The castle was a nice place, beyond "nice". But by now, Aristi always felt the need to go into the districts and interact with the citizens. If she was queen of the Underworld, it would be no good of she never knew those whom she looked after after all, right? The Elysian District was always a pleasure to visit, and she admittedly dwelled in the Punish District the least out of the three, but the Asphodel District was always the most populated. Most souls were sorted there, and thus if she wised to greet the incoming deceased, her chances were highest there.
In fact, that was exactly what the queen was doing today. Humming a nonsensical tune as she wandered, her path had been truthfully quite aimless. She waved politely to anyone who looked her way, flashed everyone she could a bright smile. Some knew who she was, some didn't, but all in all it was turning out to be another pleasant day. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, and most if not all of the citizens she encountered seemed fully content with their second lives. This optimistic view was soon marred, however, as a steadily rising conflict caught her eye. Underlings gathering... an unnatural crowd of people... All the cheer dropped from Aristi's face as she approached, replaced with a solemn, slightly curious expression.
"Pardon me," she said as she made her way through the mass of people. The ways cleared for her as soon as her identity was realized, and finally she saw the cause of this disturbance. A small Rin of uniformed guards, and even... Callum? He was here too...
The small black bundle was the next thing she noticed. What was it...? She couldn't say she ever remembered her husband creating such a thing, and no human looked like that. "But still." Returning her focus to the guards,
"Put away your weapons, there isn't a need for them. You're scaring the citizens, and I don't see any threats. All there is is a child who hasn't hurt anyone." Or at least, the odd child hadn't done any harm as far as she could see, and the people apparently trying to protect the creature were harmless too. Innocent until proven guilty... Aristi was always one to give others the benefit of the doubt. This was even a child, no matter how you looked at it. However one of the people did seem hostile, and while it was within reason... "That would go for you as well." Addressing the one clad in green, there would be no need for fighting if she could help it. Currently, she tried to position herself somewhat between the armed men and the people with the creature, but it was a bit difficult with their formation. At the very least, they'd hopefully follow her orders.
